Despite the unsettled weather, the summer fayre went ahead on the playing field on Saturday 20th July; we raised just over £330 for our building fund.
We had a range of trade stalls: British Legion, History Society, Fordham Allotment, Book & DVDs, Plants & Ceramics, Homemade cards and lots more.
We had some side stalls: Bowling for a Pig, Treasure Map, Tin Can Alley, Tombola and a Bounce demonstration. The Treasure map and Tin Can Alley run by the Beavers and Cubs.
Perhaps not the right weather for ice cream van, but the new up and running business of Roger and his food van did really well. Other efreshments inside the hall were organised by the Fordham Ladies Group selling scones, cakes & drinks and they donated £50 to hall funs.
The competitions organised inside the hall had some entries with John Crees winning the best Victoria Sandwich Cake Adult category and Abi Sculpher won the junior class. Flower Arranging won by Christina Alexander and Miniature Garden competition winners were Isla Fitzpatrick and Louise Hawkins. Special thanks to Essex Medics, Fordham Allotment Association, Fordham Ladies, Bounce, Atlas Signs and Colchester Skip Hire for supporting us.
Well done to the girls from the village who raised some money for their epic trip to Ecuador and to our youngest fundraiser for her tombola raising money for Headway.
Bowling for the Pig was won by Peter Smith and Treasure map winner was Gary Dimmock who was closest to Q2.
A new group is now using the hall regularly. Jackie James is running a Coloured Pencil Art Group on the 4th Thursday of every month. If you wish to contact Jackie please see the group page for details.
Our new windows look mighty fine and our new blinds have now been fitted. Not long now until the walls are painted and new heaters fitted.
Latest editions of the Parish Magazine now available. You can view a coloured copy here.
Copies are delivered to the village by our great band of volunteers. If you do not recieve a copy, you can get a copy from The Three Horse Shoes.
